Mart D. Nelson, P.E.
Chief Engineer and Consulting Principal
Mart D. Nelson, P.E. internationally recognized and pursued for his expertise in business operations, complex software, systems and networking endeavors for Fortune 10, Fortune 50 and Fortune 1000 corporations, State, County and City governments and non-profit and charitable organizations. Mr. Nelson has over four (4) decades experience, including 25 years in engineering and consulting in private practice and 15 years in engineering and management with AT&T.
Mr. Nelson was a Board member of the Texas Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund, appointed by then Governor George W. Bush in 1999. TIF granted more that $1 Billion for technology development in public schools, hospitals and libraries in the State of Texas. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas and is a member of a number of engineering and professional societies.
In addition to launching many successful portfolio companies, and advising corporate executives on strategic outsourcing, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, significant technical project endeavors include:
- Corporate headquarters technology design, selection and deployment for LAN, WAN, voice, video and processing systems.
- Multiple projects related to network optimization, video services, call center optimization, natural voice recognition services and services analysis.
- Network design and vendor Request for Proposals development for TEXAN-2000, a multi-service, integrated network for the state of Texas. The network supports over 200,000 employees and is the second largest government network in the world, second only to the U. S. Federal Government's FTS 2000 network.
Other corporate experience include major strategic accomplishments at American Heart Association, MCI/UUNet, MacAfee, ExxonMobil, Philip Morris USA, Frito-Lay, Shell-Texaco, JCPenney, Amoco(BP) and many other organizations.
